Dickson Ranch Rules

1. Horses can be dangerous and you are responsible for your actions - Ride at YOUR OWN risk!

2. SPEED LIMIT IS 5 MPH while driving on the ranch (WE DON’T CARE IF YOU’RE LATE FOR A LESSON)

3. Your dog must be on leash at all times.

  • Either tied up or in your hand – do not drop leash and let your dog run around!

  • You may see our ranch dogs off leash and always accompanied by ranch personnel in certain residential and cross country areas (mainly the second field) on the ranch. This does NOT mean you can have your dog off leash in these arenas. NO EXCEPTIONS!

4. No jumping without a hard hat/helmet. No exceptions.

5. Anyone under the age of 18 MUST  have adult supervision.

6. No Child (anyone under the age of 18) may ride (including jumping) without adult supervision - The adult  responsible for the minor MUST be within sight distance at all times while the minor is riding the horse

7. ARENA TURN OUTS:

  • Only one horse may be turned out at a time in each arena - If there is a rider in any arena or within the general area or if a  trainer has a client within the general area or in an arena, you MUST ask for permission to turn out BEFORE  putting your horse in the arena.

  • Taking your horse off the line to roll or “free lunge” is still considered turning out.

  • If you turn out and a rider asks you to pull up (at any time), you must comply!

  • Do not leave a horse unattended in an arena while turning out.

  • You MUST rake up after your horse rolls in the RED and INDOOR arenas specifically with provided rake

  • You MUST rake out corners and edges after your horse has been turned out if necessary with provided rake

8. You MUST pick up your horses manure in the RED, INDOOR and ROUNDPEN arenas with the rake and wheelbarrow provided.

9. PICK UP AFTER YOURSELF - Help keep the grounds clean!

  • Pick up any poles, jumps, cones, etc. after using.

  • Wrap up lunge lines and lunge whips - do not leave in the center of the arenas

  • THROW AWAY YOUR GARBAGE!

10. Guests must sign a ranch release if they are going to be on the ranch and especially be around horses - This includes any guests getting out of their vehicle, that will be within the horse’s stall, a person performing grooming duties, a person who is  going to ride, or a person who will be in direct contact with the horse at any time.

11. Horses may not be turned out to graze - Always keep your hand on the line while grazing your horse! It is  unacceptable to allow your horse to graze freely without being attached to a line held by a responsible  individual.

12. Trotting is not permitted around the ranch unless you are in an arena or out in the cross-country. If you are  trotting in the cross country (especially in the first field), please remember to be extremely mindful and aware  of your surroundings. If another rider or person is out there or even if there are riders in the white or indoor  arena and you’re in the first field, you MUST make sure it is still safe for you and the other person(s) before  you continue trotting around.

  • Note: trotting a horse for a lameness test or for another veterinary reason is acceptable on ranch  grounds outside of an arena.

13. All riders must adhere to the commonsense rules of horsemanship – too numerous to list

14. Please note
